Eva M. Moya is a native of the El Paso/Ciudad
Juarez U.S. Mexico Borderlands. Eva received her Master of Science
degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin and
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of
Texas at El Paso.
Current Work
She works on a number of on-going
initiatives taking different responsibilities. These include: Executive
Director for the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission. From 1995-2001
she was the Senior Program Coordinator for the U.S.-Mexico Border
Health Collaborative Outreach Project "Border Vision Fronteriza
Initiative" with the University of Arizona. She is presently
the Project Co-Director for the Community Access Program of Arizona
- CAPAZ and served between 1998-2001 as Project Director for the
Community Health Worker's Evaluation Tool Kit Project. She was
the Associate Director of the Health Career Occupation Program,
with the University of Arizona Rural Health Office.
Eva is also the recipient of the "Adelante
Mujer Hispana: Community Involvement" award. She is the author
and co-author of several health promotion articles and participates
in various community and civic boards and advisory committees.
Work Relevant to Hablamos Juntos
With more than 18 years of professional
experience in the U.S.-Mexico Border region, she is considered
one of the area's top health care professionals. Her expertise
includes binational and cross-border U.S.-Mexico and migrant community
health education, and working with community-based programs, Community
Health Workers/Promotores (as) de Salud, non-governmental organizations,
community health centers and academic institutions. She served
as president of the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Association during
the 1999-2000 term.
From 1993 to 1998, she participated
in the Kellogg National Leadership Program and conducted international
study travel.
