We set up this page to learn more from physicians about their efforts to improve communications with their limited English-speaking patients, and to solicit feedback from physicians on the work of Hablamos Juntos.
The impetus for soliciting feedback from physicians was a study commissioned by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation entitled, “Physician Perspectives on Communication Barriers.” This report and its executive summary explain the context in which doctors are dealing with language barriers, describe some of the techniques doctors are using to facilitate communication with their limited English-speaking patients, and also describe doctors’ primary concerns related to language barriers. The more we know about how language barriers are affecting doctors, the more we can do as a National Program Office to address these barriers and concerns.
As such, we would appreciate it if you would provide us with the following information, as well as your comments and feedback.
