The press event announced new research,
commissioned by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), on how
language barriers negatively affect the access and delivery of
quality health care in communities that have seen fast growth in
their Latino population.
Findings discussed how providers
and patients agree that language barriers pose significant obstacles
in achieving positive health outcomes and the ineffectiveness of
current translation efforts.
RWJF announced a new program
to address this issue called Hablamos Juntos and the availability
of grants to develop effective and affordable interpretation services.
The following material was developed
for the Press Conference.
