CONFERENCE ON PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS TO LOW HEALTH LITERACY
The American College of Physicians (ACP) Foundation will host its fourth annual national health communications conference, Practical Solutions to the Problems of Low Health Literacy, on November 30, 2005. The conference will again be co-sponsored by the institute of Medicine and held at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC. Experts in health literacy and health communications will convene to present findings on operational solutions to the problems of low health literacy that have been implemented and evaluated in the field. The audience will include physicians, pharmacists, nurses and physician assistants, as well as leaders in professional education, business, insurance, and governments and nonprofit organizations. This conference is part of the ACP Foundation’s health literacy initiative to improve health outcomes for the 90 million American adults who suffer from low health literacy (IOM, Prescription to End Confusion, 2004).
