College of Nursing & Health Science
The College of Nursing and Health Science is a teaching learning organization with a national and international academic reputation, grounded in sound general education. It develops and supports a diverse faculty who are visionary and competent practitioners, scholars, and researchers, excellent in teaching in academic and practice settings, and responsive to the needs of students and the community. Specifically, the Nursing programs prepare graduates to function as providers, coordinators, and managers of care and for leadership, advanced practice, and nurse scholar roles, also as members of the nursing profession The Health Science programs prepare working professionals for educational, administrative, and management roles in a variety of health care systems, including hospital, managed care, governmental , policy, assisted living/senior housing and research organizations. Graduates of the College of Nursing and Health Science are prepared to function as interdisciplinary health professionals and citizens who provide leadership, care, and service to the community.

Director, Cultural Competence
Martine Charles is an accomplished professional with over 15 years of diverse experience in public health program management in the U.S. as well as internationally. Ms. Charles currently leads a system wide program for language and cultural services, including training and education of staff. Ms. Charles has solid experience in the design, delivery and assessment of public health programs. She is an experienced diversity/cultural competence trainer and educator.

Approach

Participating students will be sought from within Inova Health System as well as from among the College's enrollees. Instructional personnel will continue to be shared with Northern Virginia AHEC. The program will be advertised by the College and by Inova.
